How To Study MBBS Abroad Without Appearing For NEET

How To Study MBBS Abroad Without NEET

Are you an Indian student looking to study MBBS abroad without NEET in a medical college?

I’ve been counselling students to study abroad for several years.

While guiding students, I’ve realised that getting a medical seat through NEET is extremely difficult with the sky-high competition.

However, there are several foreign medical universities that do not require NEET for international students.

The quality of education in a foreign university like the University of California, Imperial College or Russian Technological University stands unmatched.

Hence, I decided to create a detailed guide to help you get a medical degree from a foreign university.

What Is NEET?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the entrance examination for candidates interested in enrolling in MBBS and BDS programs at Indian medical or dental colleges.

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test is the entrance exam which allows Indian students to get admission into government medical universities across the whole country.

The questions are based on three subjects- physics, chemistry and biology.

More than 1 million students appear for this exam every year, however, only 40-50% of students clear the exam.

Whereas, if you study MBBS abroad as an international student, NEET is not a requirement.

Study MBBS Abroad Without NEET: Eligibility Criteria

You must meet the following eligibility criteria to study abroad in a medical college

  1. Your age should be at least 17 at the time of admission. There’s no upper age limit.
  2. You need to provide an “Eligibility Certificate” issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
  3. At the time of admission, you must provide a medical certificate verifying that you are immune from any infectious diseases.
  4. You must have cleared the Senior Secondary examination from a recognized board.
  5. In addition to having English as a compulsory subject during their 10+2 years, students must maintain a minimum average of 50% in Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. For the reserved (SC/ST/OBC) categories, students must score at least 40% during their 10+2 as per MCI/NMC guidelines.
  6. English Proficiency Tests are compulsory in some universities. You may appear for IELTS, TOEFL, or other proficiency tests.
